Dental Bridges

If you are missing one or more teeth, dental bridges are a common restorative treatment that can help fill the gap and restore your smile’s appearance and function. A bridge is a dental appliance that is made of two or more crowns on either side of the gap, known as abutment teeth, and a false tooth or teeth in between. Bridges can be made of a variety of materials, including porcelain, ceramic, or even gold.

The Benefits of Dental Bridges

There are several benefits to getting a dental bridge:

  • Restore your ability to chew and speak properly
  • Improve the appearance of your smile
  • Prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of place
  • Distribute the forces in your bite properly
  • Prevent further dental problems

The Dental Bridge Procedure

The dental bridge procedure typically involves two visits to your dentist’s office:

  1. The first visit involves preparing the abutment teeth for the bridge by removing a portion of the enamel to allow room for the crowns to be placed over them. Impressions of your teeth are then taken, which are used to create the bridge, false teeth, and crowns in a dental laboratory.
  2. During the second visit, your dentist will fit and cement the bridge onto the abutment teeth. Your dentist may make adjustments to the bridge to ensure a comfortable and proper fit.

With proper care and maintenance, dental bridges can last for many years, helping to restore your smile and improve your oral health.
