Tooth Extractions
Tooth extraction is the process of removing a tooth from its socket in the bone. There are several reasons why a tooth may need to be extracted, including severe decay, advanced gum disease, or trauma to the tooth. In some cases, teeth may need to be extracted to make room for orthodontic treatment or to prevent overcrowding.
We provide safe and comfortable extractions. We use local anesthesia to numb the area around the tooth to be extracted. We take great care to ensure that the extraction process is as smooth and stress-free as possible.
After the tooth extraction, it is important to follow proper aftercare instructions to promote healing and prevent complications. We will provide you with specific instructions tailored to your individual needs, but in general, you should:
- Bite down on a gauze pad for 30-45 minutes to help control bleeding
- Apply an ice pack to the affected area to reduce swelling
- Avoid smoking or using a straw for at least 24 hours
- Eat soft, cool foods for the first few days after the extraction
- Take any prescribed pain medication as directed
With proper aftercare, most patients can expect to fully recover from a tooth extraction within a few days to a week.
